Happy Valentine's Day!!

I have been thinking a LOT about love lately, call me mushy, romantic or crazy, but oh! it's been fun!!

I've been thinking about how my maternal grandparents met, how Grandfather Wong took the train up to Yale to court my Grandmother Mabel, and how the chaperone would travel with them for their " date ".

My Mother & Aunt had heritage bricks made in my Grandparents names for the Train Roundhouse in Vancouver to commemorate their love story.

I pulled out a beautiful jade pendant & necklace that I inherited from my Aunt Pearl after her passing. Big Uncle Knud, my big burly Danish Uncle had made for her. He wanted me to have it, and on it, in Chinese, it says, Love.

And my paternal Grandfather, Reverand Ma whisking my sweet Grandmother Anna out of China to safety in Canada away from the Boxer Revolution, to start a new life.

Because Love.

And in looking back into my family history, I've been searching for my First Nations roots, it has been fascinating, and I've yet to figure out exactly which band we are from. Kind Sto'lo Nation genealogists have helped, Council Band members from Yale First Nations, have befriended and helped me, a Family Historian from the N'laka'pamux Tribal Council Member is helping me as well. I feel their love & caring in their support, because, love.

I've found that looking inside of myself and into my family stories, there is so much love. 

Look inside yourself today, and celebrate all that love that is already there, the love that your family stories hold and the love that can heal the world.
