Banquet Foods, Prepared Foods & Hives

Author: Cydney Mar

It's December & we are ALL in full-on Holiday Spirit ~

I recently attended a fabulous Pot-Luck Party at my friend's Housewarming party, I hosted an 8 person dinner party supper, bought some lovely prepared foods to ease the work of drop-in party-goers and promptly gave myself a light case of hives.

Ow, itchy, scratchy sore tiny bumps on my usually pristine skin.

Hmm, wonder what whats all about!

My father used to say, Cyd! not too much " Banquet Food " you'll get " nit-hay ", that was his Taishan Chinese dialect for a canker sore from eating too many rich foods. These fancy foods, things we don't usually eat can be too rich for our systems.

He was a fan of being balanced, insisting we ate one " boiled " meal per week and to be moderate.

So after I got a sore itchy left arm, the following day I was super busy, looked into my fridge and decided to eat some pate I had bought ( for guests, lol ) and ran around the rest of the day doing the things we do before the Holidays.

I woke up with hives on my right arm, waaa!!

SoI went into the fridge and looked at ALL the prepared foods and saw that the pate had a preservative in it called SODIUM NITRATE. I did some research, and yup, that seems to be the culprit. The other prepared foods in my fridge were a spinach dip & some homemade ketchup ( hey a homemade tourtiere is arriving Monday night! ) Neither of the other prepared foods had Sodium Nitrate in them.

Zo!! I put one some Poly-sporin on my hives, took some extra Beautiful Skin to detox my Liver, Kidney's & Lymphatic System & fix up my skin integrity, drank a ton of lemon water & complained to everyone who would listen to me, lol.

More than anything we need to listen to ourselves, to our bodies and to our treasured family wisdom. And take a moment in the rush of the Holiday Season to check the labels of the prepared foods to see if there is something that your body might not like as well as your guests.

Your skin & your guests will thank you for it~

Happy Holidays & Many Blessings,

Cydney
